How to achieve your plans, goals and dreams (Be-Do-Have)

We shouldn’t wait for the start of a new year to make plans, goals and resolutions. The desire for change and improvement is there all year. We just have to focus to find the best way to achieve them.

As well as changing your attitude, you also need a success formula. The attitude shift won’t translate to anything if you don’t have something concrete to guide you along the path to attainment. Here’s a simple and workable formula to help you. It works for both personal and business goals.

Be-Do-Have: a simple success formula

Don’t ever think you’re a hopeless daydreamer if you often find yourself wrapped up in private moments of imagination. It’s very normal to create a mental picture of the changes you’d like to see in your life. So if you often ‘see’ you and your family in a bigger or nicer house or on more regular holidays to your dream destinations, don’t think you’re going mad. One of the things you need to do to get where you want to BE is to visualise it.

Of course, visualising will not be enough. We have to be ready for change so that we can HAVE all the great things we desire. Albert Einstein put it best:

‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.’

Unless we’re ready for change, we’ll continue to end up with what we’ve always had because we’re only doing what we’ve always done. Changing our thinking is the only way to create significant leaps forward in the direction of our goals.

To bring about significant change, we need to DO a lot of work. But working your butt off won’t necessarily drive you toward your goals. People attain success by thinking, behaving and working like successful people. You have to take on the mindset of an achiever and embody the beliefs and values of one. Start developing the identity of someone headed for success – mind, body and soul.

Success will not fall into your lap

It can be a gruelling process, especially when doubts, sneers and criticisms pop up along the way. That is why it is important to have an achiever’s mindset to help dispel these doubts. Reading inspirational books or biographies of people who have risen above adversity on their path to success can help.

There is one common denominator to success stories: What successful people are enjoying now is basically the result of the successful person they chose to become, plus all the hard work they did before money started rolling in.

You can become one of them. Success is not just for a chosen few.

By focusing on becoming the person you need to BE, you will enjoy the work you need to DO more and acquire the things you want to HAVE much faster.
